YOUR CIRCULAR SOLUTION

Why would you consider going Circular?

The call for a new economic model is getting louder. We can’t go on producing and consuming the way we have been doing if we want to sustain the planet's resources in the long run. In the quest to improve resource performance and sustainability, businesses have started to explore ways to reuse products or their components and restore more of their material, energy and labour inputs. It is time to take this concept of a ‘circular economy’ one step further. To analyse its promise for businesses and economies, and to prepare the ground for its adoption.

Since the Industrial Revolution, companies and consumers have largely adhered to a linear model of value creation that begins with extraction and concludes with end-of-life disposal. Resources are acquired, processed using energy and labour, and sold as goods—with the expectation that customers will discard those goods and buy more.

In this learning material we will look at how to set up a plan for how to run a Circular business. But first we will need to find out how you plan to run a business in the first place. We start by introducing the Business Model Canvas (BMC), and then show how you can go from that to a Circular Business Model Canvas (CBMC).
